The Simply Heavenly photos
One can see from the photos below that the popular Simply Heavenly would bring not only a vibrancy and energy to the Dust Bowl stage, but the chance to showcase a noted Harlem Renaissance author. Simply Heavenly was both a popular and financial success for Hughes, and was based on his character Jesse B. Semple. The character began in a newspaper column and evolved into a series of stories. The original production photos appear first, with the Dust Bowl Players program further down.
